Founder and Head Coach
Chung-Man Tam is a 8-time Ironman finisher, 6-time ultramarathon finisher, 5x Boston Marathon qualifier, 2x Western States qualifier. He's been racing triathlon since 2002, trail ultramarathons since 2012. Chung raced cross-country and track in high school (all-state) and college.
Since 2004, Chung has been developing his coaching methodology based on his unique combination of coaching experience, elite athletics, and analytical thinking. Prior to Transition Area, he coached with Team-in-Training as well as Pacific West Athletics in San Francisco. In addition to the conventional pillars of physical strength and endurance, he builds the pillar of mental strength on the foundation of data-driven sports science. As a busy professional, he understands that his athletes are likely time-starved and knows how to build a program to achieve peak performance in limited time.
